5K Training at the USPTO
The Fitness Center located on the first floor of the Knox Building at the USPTO is a great resource for USPTO employees to train and get in shape for the Innovation 5k. For more information on membership, please see one of the Fitness Center staff members at the front desk of the gym or visit http://www.ptofitness.org/.
The USPTO WorkLife Team also has both running and walking clubs available for all employees of the USPTO. The running and walking clubs are for athletes of ALL levels, from the first-timer all the way up to the most experienced. For more information on either the running or walking club, please contact Matthew.Troutman@uspto.gov.
B-Tag Timing and Scoring
B-Tag timing operated by RaceDCTiming will be used to score the 5K race. The system uses a computer "tag" located in each runner’s bib and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on clock time and age group awards will be based on net times.
Awards
Prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers as well as the top two male and female finishers in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 & over. There will also be random awards during the post-race ceremony - you must be present to win random prizes.
Packet Pickup
Packets, t-shirts and bibs will be available at various offices around the USPTO Carlyle Campus the week prior to the race (October 10th-14th). More details on exact office locations will be sent directly to race registrants prior to pick-up times.
Picking Up for Your Friends and Family
We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends and family. We request that the proper communication occur so you can find each other on race day or before. You will need to show us your ID to pick up for friends and family. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed if they are not picked up.
Race Premium - Technical T-shirts
Each registrant will receive a technical t-shirt depicting the PTOS & FAPTO Innovation 5k logo. Sizes are Adult XS, S, M, L, XL and XX.
Post-race Activities
Delicious fresh bananas, granola bars and bottled water will be available. Award ceremony to follow completion of the race at approximately 9:45am.
