Nutcracker Holiday Reception and Performance at the Embassy of Russia

On December 18, 1892, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” Ballet premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg Russia.  Tonight, you will enjoy highlights of this famous work of art and many other Russian traditions in a special evening at the Embassy of the Russian Federation.

The holiday season arrives and tonight, we combine it with the majesty of Moscow and the charm of St. Petersburg when it comes alive in one of the largest and lavish embassies in Washington D.C.
Tonight, ring celebrate the holidays on Russian soil without ever getting on a plane as we you bring the Russian food, drink, live music, dance, diplomats, art  - and a special appearance by Russia’s Santa Claus – otherwise known as Father Frost!

Portions for tonight’s proceeds will benefit Podari.Life and their fight against childhood cancer. (See below and http://www.podari.life/)

Featuring:

1)     RUSSIAN FOOD: 
With several dishes being prepared directly from the embassy’s chefs, we will experience exquisite Russian delicacies as found in some of the finest restaurants and cafes in all of St. Petersburg.  Be on the looking for post diner Russian chocolates and other holiday treats! 

2) RUSSIAN BAR INCLUDING VODKA:

Partake in a full evening of an open bar consisting of the of the finest regional wines and beers found throughout Russia!  Includes a tasting of multiple brands of Russian vodka! 

3)  DIPLOMATIC GREETING:
 Hear from diplomats and mingle with members of the embassy.

4)  LIVE NUTCRACKER AND HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE:
Taking place in the Grand Ballroom, tonight we will present you with several opportunities to enjoy the music, dance and other holiday traditions commonly found in the smallest towns and largest cities throughout all of Russia.
     (A)   “The Nutcracker”
Tonight, in a special performance, we will experience the talents of the Kirov Academy of Ballet (DC) in an exclusive rendition of “The Nutcracker”!    Retelling the story of Clara and her present from Drosselmeyer her godfather - a beautiful and magical nutcracker.  During the story, when the entire household went to sleep, her nutcracker came alive and brought to Clara a magical world of dance!  We will marvel at 30 minutes of highlights during their special performance.
    (B)    Father Frost:
Tonight, meet Ded Moroz – otherwise known as Father Frost – as well as his granddaughter Snow Maiden. They will perform a special musical performance as we learn their story and important to Russian children during the holiday season
      (C)    Russian Caroling:

A special group of Russian carolers will entertain us with the music and tunes heard for centuries on the snow filled streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

5)     CHARITY:
Proceeds of every ticket goes to benefit Podari.Life. Podari.Life is the sister charity to the Russia-based "Podari Zhizn" and UK-based "Gift of Life".  This public charity based in Russia's capital city of Moscow, provides medications and medical equipment to many hospitals in Russia, promotes and organizes blood drives and develops volunteer networks countrywide.  For more information, visit http://www.podari.life/about-us/ .
