***Science and Technology Student Educational Outreach Opportunity***

Interested in expanding the horizons for 3rd and 4th graders in the Washington DC region?  Wish you could share your love of science and technology with students who may not otherwise have such opportunity?  Excited to teach students how to make ice cream from dry ice or program a robot to navigate an obstacle course?

Join PTOS’s ReSET Group.

PTOS’s ReSET Group has been partnering with DC’s Whittier Elementary School Campus’s 3rd and 4th graders for the past three and a half years.  ReSET works directly with students at the school four times each semester with hands-on science experiments and then plans activities for a field trip to the USPTO.

ReSET comprises an amazingly dedicated team of examiners and SPEs and is looking for new volunteers to join our great team.  We are especially looking for people who have a love of introducing essential scientific and technological concepts in a fun and exciting way to students who would not normally receive this instruction at such an age.

If you are interested, please join us at an information session on Thursday, January 16 starting at 4:45pm at the Trademark Restaurant in the Westin (2080 Jamison Ave, Alexandria VA – one block from the USPTO).  The program will include a panel discussion from current volunteers as well as insights into teaching science and technology to students from education experts.  The event will conclude with a reception with complementary drinks and appetizers.  See attached flier for more information.

If you plan to attend the information session, wish to join the ReSET email list, or have any questions at all, please contact Pete Mehravari (peter.mehravari@uspto.gov).

We hope you all will take advantage of this amazing outreach opportunity and learn more about ReSET and its mission.
