Engineering Week 2013
Thursday, February 21st
9:00am-2:00pm
Madison Auditorium

USPTO’s Affinity Groups and the Patent and Trademark Society, in collaboration with the USPTO Education and Outreach Office, are excited to celebrate E-Week with a program for local students and the USPTO community on Thursday, February 21st from 9:00am-2:00pm in the Madison Auditorium.  Up to sixty (60) area high school students come to the USPTO for an exciting and interactive program.  This year’s program will focus on 3D printing technology and the importance of Intellectual Property as applied to 3D printing.

The students will engage in hands-on activities where they are presented with plans of an object and are asked to perform subtractive manufacturing techniques and create a physical 3D model of an object; create a computer 3D model of the object and; simulate the 3D printing layering process of a model by stacking cardboard cutout layers created by a computer program to create a 3D model of the design.

If you would like to volunteer for this event, please attend one of the training sessions held in Madison East 7D28:

Tuesday, February 19th at 4:00pm-5:00pm OR
Wednesday, February 20th at 12:00-1:00pm
