JPTOS JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
(Four Year Term)
By requirement of Article VII, Section 2(i) of the Society Constitution, Article III, Sections 4 and 5 of the By Laws and Article VII of the Standing Rules of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society, a vacancy is being announced to all active members of the Society in the position of Executive Director of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Financial Director must be an active member of the Society.
*
Demonstrated skill set to perform the duties as noted below.
*
Two years managerial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Business degree preferred.

DUTIES:
* The Financial Director shall be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the Journal, handling the books, paying the bills, collecting and forwarding all monies to and from the Treasurer including the monthly appropriation.  The Financial Director acts as a liaison with the payroll company, prepares an annual budget for the Board of Governors and presents the Journal Budget to the Society Board.  The Financial Director is also responsible for supervision of the subscription staff, research to improve existing contracts and equipment, and knowledge of the standing rules and by-laws of the Journal.  The Financial Director shall serve as a member of the Board of Governors but shall not have a vote on any measure affecting his or her compensation except for the Journal annual budget; shall serve as a member of the Society Budget and Finance Committee; shall provide monthly reports as set forth in the Standing Rules; and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Governors.

This is a paid position serving the Board of Governors of the JPTOS for a 4 year term (mandated by the PTOS Constitution), which commences on the date of assumption of the position; a full job description is available upon request.

* Position will be filled by majority vote of the Board of Governors with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors of the Society.


ASSISTANT EDITOR

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated skill set to perform the duties as noted below.
*
Two years editorial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*
Law degree or equivalent experience in IP publications preferred.

DUTIES:
* The Assistant Editor shall assist the Editor in their duties and responsibilities, such as soliciting material for publication, communicating with authors, determining what is published each month and laying out a rough copy, proofreading and editing submissions as necessary including adding footnotes and/or endnotes, writing information for covers, editor’s page, and table of contents, managing the article inventory database, and collaborating with the printer, ad manager, Executive Director, Financial Director, and Board of Governors.

MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated skill set to perform the duties as noted below.
*
Experience with computer internet, e-mail, database manipulation, and basic computer software.
* Experience in a customer service-related work.
* Experience in working with accounts, subscriptions, repeated receipt of money, or equivalent.

DUTIES:
* The Membership Coordinator shall assist the Executive Director by processing membership subscriptions, maintaining the membership database, processing renewal letters, invoices, correction letters, and credit card payments, providing customer service via answering e-mails and telephone calls, mailing lost or additional copies, purchasing and maintaining proper office supplies, and providing occasional JPTOS website assistance.
