PTOS Education Committee - Volunteers Wanted

Announcements
01/25/10

The PTOS Education Committee is seeking to expand our involvement with the community. As part of that initiative, we have begun a relationship with the Marshall-Brennan Project (MBP). Therefore, we are looking for volunteers with law degrees or current law students with moot court experience to judge for a high school moot court competition.

The 11th Annual "We The Students" National High School Moot Court Competition
Sat. March 27th and/or Sun. March 28th (8AM to 5PM)

MBP is seeking PTOS members who are lawyers (or who have substantial legal training) to judge oral arguments given by high school moot court teams.  This year's legal issue relates to the First Amendment.

On the 27th, volunteer judges are needed at American University Washington College of Law, located at 4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016.
On the 28th, volunteer judges are needed at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, located at 500 Indiana Avenue, NW., Washington, D.C. 20001.

This is a traditional moot court competition so judges are expected to respectfully and purposefully interrupt students with pertinent questions.

Information about the event including the problem being argued - https://www.wcl.american.edu/org/mootcourt/highschool.cfm

Volunteers should email christyann.pulliam@uspto.gov by COB January 29, 2010. The email should include the dates (March 27 and/or 28) for which you want to volunteer. Please also include your law school and graduation date.

The volunteer list will be passed on to the MBP. And more information will follow from MBP closer to the event.

No other time is provided.

Your signing up to help is a firm commitment on your part, so please be sure that you will be available.
